Hello interneters.
I have a proposition for you. Actually it's not so much a proposition as it is me giving away something for free. I will even pay for postage. I'm that nice.
Here is the thing ... the thing is that I won a contest over at Mr. DeWolf's blog of residence. I won an autographed edition of his book.
But the thing that I mentioned? The thing is I already have this book of his. In fact I wrote a review for it. I figured that since I will be hoarding the autographed version, I really don't need my own copy anymore. That's where YOU come in! Yes, YOU! No -- stop looking behind you!
I want to give you a chance to win this book written by my dear friend ... FREE OF CHARGE!
I'm not one to ask for comments, but since that is the only way you can get a chance at winning the book, I'm going to have to ask you to comment.
Your homework is to tell me either a book that you are currently reading AND/OR your favourite book of all time. Also, I would like a three page book report complete with character sketches. Thanks! Be prepared to receive a grade. Sorry, it's the teacher in me.
I promise that the book is not underlined or highlighted, nor are there any of my thoughts written on the sides of the pages. It is in pristine condition. So please comment and let's get the word out there of this fantastic book by a fellow fantastic blogger. He's the real deal people.
If you don't win, but would like a copy of the book to call your own, just go here to order. Merci.
Good luck!
Oh and I'm not afraid to ship the book across the border or overseas. So don't let that hold you back. Just saying.

Am currently reading Cry of the Kalahari (verdict in case anyone is interested: brilliant!).
Good luck with your give-away!
Do we get extra credit for noting that the book might have more value if you had taken notes in the margins?
I am currently reading the original scripts of the first two seasons of West Wing - a gift / homework assignment from my screen writing partner.
Okay this is cheesy but my favourite book of all time that I can read over and over and over is "Gone With The Wind" By Margaret Mitchell in 1932. I think I read it for the first time when I was 25, and now twenty years later I read it at least once a year. My favorite passage:
Prissy: Is the doctor come?
Scarlett: No, he can’t come.
Prissy: Oh, Miss Scarlett, Miss Melanie’s bad off.
Scarlett: He can’t come, there’s nobody to come. Prissy, you’ve got to manage without the doctor, I’ll help you.
Prissy: Oh, lawsy, Miss Scarlett.
Scarlett: Well, what is it?
Prissy: Lawsy, we got to have a doctor, I don’t know nothin’ ‘bout birthin’ babies!
My copy is already in the mail so don't enter me. But man am I ever excited to read it!
I just finished "Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea" which is really embarrassing. Also, it is very funny.
Of all time? Pride and Prejudice. Everyone is always surprised by that.
My favourite book of all time, thus far, is “Johnny Got His Gun” by Dalton Trumbo. The book was written in 1938 in reflection of World War I and was fairly controversial at the time.
What makes this book special to me is the development of the main character, Joe Bonham, injured in the war with only his torso and head – and his mind with no ability to communicate until…
The writing was vivid and life like. At any point while reading (which I did in one sitting) I felt as if I were right there in the room observing the story take place and I physically felt each emotion.
Just talking about the book here reminds me of the story and how it was told and right now, I am getting shills and feeling those emotions once more. If you haven’t read this book, pick it up – it’s life changing.
Currently reading "Electric Kool Aid Acid Test" - Tom Wolfe. I'm finding the language difficult, but I'm determined to get through it. Should have listened to the teacher a little more when I was a young gun! I was definately that student you wrote about that didn't listen.. Sorry EM. But now I've learnt the error of my ways and read to learn :)
Favourite book is "The Rum Diary" - HST.. I read it every couple of months. The main charater is getting older, and feels like he's just digging himself a rut.. Determined to get out, he travels to San Juan as a journo for a local paper. There he meets an arrage of strange lovable people - the way one does when abroad. Falls in love, rides the hellish demise of a failing paper.. and as the title suggest's, drinks excessively.
Clifford the Big Red dog...ageless!
"I was paid twenty-five dollars a day to ruin the only place I'd seen in ten years where I'd felt a sense of peace. Paid to piss in my own bed, as it were, and I was only here because i'd got drunk and been arrested and had thereby become a pawn in some highlevel face-saving bullshit.
I sat there a long time, and thouht about a lot of things. Foremost among them was the suspicion that my stange an ungovernable instincts might do me in before I had a chance to get rich. No matter how much I wanted all those things that I needed money to buy, there was some devilish current pushing me off in another direction-toward anarchy and poverty and craziness. That maddening delusion that a man can lead a decent life without hiring himself out as a Judas Goat."
Sorry for clogging your comments page
How could I not want to win a book that swears and yells commands at me? And that's only in the title! Count me in, kiddo!
I am currently reading Twilight with my daughter. We are just at the part where there is a lot of kissing and touching and I am reading it out loud to her. I am UNCOMFORTABLE with some of the words/sentences so I leave them out...is that wrong? Will she read it as an adult or when she's older and wonder why she doesn't remember certain parts?
Either way, I'd love to read that book and if I do not win it I will most likely buy it.
I want to win! I'm currently reading 'The Kitchen God's Wife' by Amy Tan.
My favorite book of all time? God. What a question. I'd have to go with Anne of Green Gables.
I'd love to win.
I'm currently reading The Appeal by Grisham. On the other hand my all time favorites include the Foundation trilogy by Asimov, Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, and The Voyage of the HMS Beagle by Charles Darwin.
How's that for eclectic?
This DeWolf guy is all over the blogs I visit...today I pledge to visit his blog.
also my fav book of all time? Catcher in the Rye. Holden is the best character ever. In anything.
I just finished Five Things I Can't Live Without.
It was a great read. I'm usually a James Patterson, Meg Cabot, Kate White, Sheryl Anderson and Jodi Picoult.
My Sister's Keeper has to be my fave book to date.
I second what Matt just said.
Charles Darnay from "Tale of Two Cities" and Jay Gatsby from tie for close seconds.
I would love to win a copy of Peter's book from you, because apparently he didn't like me enough to pick me the first time around :(
I am currently reading sTORI Telling... because I apparently have brain cells to spare... since every page I read kills a few more off...
I am currently reading Short-Term Financial Management and Kaplan Financial's Series 6 License Exam Manual... Please, I need some "light" reading!!
My favorite book of all time. Hmmm... I have two: The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare and Just a Bunch of Recipes by Sam Zien. Yeah, its a cookbook. Sue me.

I dont know if you have read it or no and even if you choose me or no...go get the book and read it now if you havent already.
Personally I relate to character of Francie Nolan. I love her spirit and how she tries to keep the little girl in her alive through her writings and imagination and writing..
Just left me wanting more when it ended..and a warm feeling inside...
You will love her...Francie I mean.. trust me.
Just typing this has made me wanna re-read it again....:)
You said "merci". Je ne veux pas gagner le livre. Merci.
I'm currently reading 'Little Women'. Somehow I missed reading it as an early teen.
Some fav's (or at least books that resonated with me):
Not Wanted on the Voyage - Timothy Findley.
The Remains of the Day - Kazuo Ishiguro.
I Capture the Castle - Dodie Smith
The Phantom Tollbooth - Norman Juster.
I'm currently reading "A New World" by Ken Follet but my favorite book of all time is "Tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albom. I pretty much cried through the entire book. I don't think any book as ever touched me or changed my life as much as this book has. :)
Opps.. I meant "World Without End" by Ken Follet. I guess I was thinking of "The New Earth" by Eckart Tolle and mixed up the two... :)
Kinda late for this shit, aren't I?
I recently read two good books "The White Tiger" by Aravind Adiga (Booker prize 2008), and Q&A by Vikas Swarup (the book on which the movie Slumdog Millionaire is based on). I simply loved these books.
