I use that phrase a lot when I get frustrated with my students.
They piss me off? I lash out at them with a full blown, oh my goodness!!! while I shake my hands at the sides of my face. What? I'm Italian.
What I really mean by that is:
1) Are you fucking kidding me?!?
2) Shut the fuck up!!
3) Why must I tell you 10 TIMES the same damn thing, you fuck?!?
4) What the fuck!! You are driving me to drink!
Or something along those lines. But you can bet that an expletive is included. My mouth says "oh my goodness" but my brain is running at its mouth as though its got tourette's.
I must say it a lot because now I've got a kid ... the one who causes those three magic words to make their presence be known more than any other student ... who says it too! Whenever he gets frustrated by another student he'll yell loudly oh my goodness!! And like me, he says this at least a handful of times a day.
I guess you can say that I influence easily. I'm sorta like a god. No, no ... a demi-god. I won't let the influence I have get to my head that much.
Oh, and I'm sure I sound like a total bitch, but let me tell you, unless you've taught 20 or more kids (no matter what age range) for as long as I have (almost 5 years), then this post would make complete sense to you.
